CAL believes that personal leader development is not sufficient. Development through the Leading Beyond seminar is a practice set in case-in-point study that synthesizes the individual development process within the context of relationships and systemic leadership development in the organization. Thus, leadership learning and transformation in turn generates organizational learning and transformation.

It takes heart and soul to transform an organization, to provide an environment that inspires people to do their best and find meaning in work. It goes beyond the skills of one’s professional expertise to a level not experienced in most organizations. Transformation is gained only through the personal growth and growth in the organization’s leaders. They are individuals who are willing to risk their self-interests for the good of the whole, leaders with the courage to take people along a path of growth and service they have not experienced before. CAL develops those who intend to lead, helps them make a difference, and supports their efforts to transform the organization.

Our leadership development practice is different from leadership seminars that focus on concepts and traits of leaders. Leading Beyond reaches beyond those concepts to draw out the reality of individual experience; application acts as an accelerator to understanding and defining one’s Leadership Fingerprint.™ Leadership is more than reasoning; it is creative, intuitive, and relational – all capacities developed in action learning.
Leadership growth, team cohesion, and trust are not gained through training or by listening to motivational speakers. Rather, transformative leadership is realized in the crucible of hard work, a journey to find one’s authentic self, and the courage to lead what’s not popular, but what is right. Personal integrity is at the core of leadership, along with a profound respect for the interests and contributions of those who follow. CAL places the emphasis on personal character and the relationship with followers.
The CAL Role
The leadership soul is bred in relationship. Our approach is to develop leaders personally, in relationship with their followers, within the context of the organization. The CAL facilitating team will be the justifiers of the process; the questioners; the providers of summaries, synthesis, and clarification; the process coaches; and genuine participants in the leadership development process.
