Mary C. Johnson
In her role as Vice President Finance and Administration, Mary leads the finance, human resource, and learning and development functions within the ELCA Board of Pensions, a $5.7 billion pension and health benefit unit within the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. As part of the organization’s leadership team, she participates with team members, directors and managers within the 200-employee organization to manage the business and to advance major strategic initiatives focused on a relationship business model with its customers, guided by values of excellence, integrity, respect, collaboration and stewardship.
Her prior work experience included 16 years with a non-profit reinsurance organization, most recently as its senior vice president.
Mary shares her leadership experience with those in the classroom, weaving her stories and experiences into the learning conversations, and then weaves the classroom experiences back into her own workplace.
